Fairfield, CA - The Guru Nanak Sikh Temple (GNST) has been working closely with the officials from City of Fairfield and Solano County to bring improved services to the temple. Recently the temple was granted the gas permit, which eliminated the need for expensive import of propane gas.
For the past four years members of the community in partnership with the Temple committee have been working closely with local officials to bring city water to the temple. Due to the temple being in county and water being provided by the City of Fairfield it requires the approval of many agencies such as: Solano County Local Agency Formation Commission’s (LAFCO), Solano County Board of Supervisors, Fairfield City Council, and Solano Irrigation District. If approved it will be only the second time in the History of Solano County that water will be provided by City of Fairfield in Solano County jurisdiction.
The Committee also passed the construction of a new entrance and wall for the temple. The wall will be constructed as the boundary between the church and Rockville road. It will provide as a safety barrier between the busy Rockville Rd and the temple’s members.
To encourage and teach our youth about Sikhism Gurmuki Camp will be held at the temple from December 20-27. The Gurmuki camp will teach the youth about the Sikh religion in a fun and interactive way including singing along in the Kirtan and many other fun ways. Parents are encouraged to bring their children and to do sewa (help).
With the huge success of the Diwali and Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s celebration last year, the temple will celebrate these events on its respective dates.
